The Kensington Tech Center design prioritizes clean lines and minimal ornamentation, with highly repetitive and reproducible building components, both on the façade and in the design of the residential and R&D tech units. The building’s character is highlighted by the stepping cantilevers at the shared residential/tech lobby entrance and at the primary entrance to the public space to the north of the buildings. The primary public façade on the lower floors is faced with shou sugi ban charred wood siding, and the interior courtyard provides a canvas for local artists to produce curated works. The residential character of the project is defined by efficiency units and communal living amenity spaces located on the 2nd floor and roof. Sustainability is a priority with high-performing windows and HVAC units, and significant green roof areas both at the roof level as well as above the parking deck.
